Jönköpings Länstrafik AB provides scheduled bus and train services within the Municipality of Jönköping. The company was formed in 1980 and is owned jointly by the County Council and its 13 related municipalities.

Travel with Länstrafiken
There are several different tickets available when travelling with Länstrafiken. You choose the alternative that best suits your travel habits and requirements. If you travel frequently, you should choose to load a Travel Card with Travel Bank or Period. Travel Bank functions as a payment card from which an amount is deducted for each journey you make. Travel Bank is available for both School Age Youngsters and for Adults. You load the Travel Bank with SEK 200 for School Age and SEK 300 for Adults. If you pay with Travel Bank, you obtain 25% discount during heavy-traffic hours and 50% discount during low-traffic hours. * Low-traffic hours = Monday-Thursday (except public holidays) 09.00-14.00 hrs and 18.00-23.00 hrs; Friday 09.00-14.00 hrs (except public holidays); and Saturday, Sunday and public holidays 04.00-18.00 hrs.
The Period travel card is for those who travel a little more. Period 30 is valid for unlimited travel for 30 consecutive days. Period 20 is valid for 20 elective 20-hour intervals spread over a total of 60 days.
Period Student
Students who have passed their 19th birthday can load their card with Period Student. The card is loaded for a 30-day period. The holder must be able to show personal ID and eligible student ID (Mecenat Card or CSN Card) when travelling.
Duo/Family
This ticket is valid for travel within Jönköpings Länstrafik as well as Länstrafiken Kronoberg and Hallandstrafiken. The ticket costs 90% of the price of two adult tickets. Duo/Family is valid for up to five people, with a maximum of two adults (20 years +).
Text (SMS) ticket
You can purchase your ticket with your mobile phone on all buses and trains in Jönköping County. When travelling in urban traffic, send a text (SMS) with JV or JS to 72344, where J stands for Jönköping, V for Vuxen/Adult (20 years +) and S for School Age (7-19 years). When travelling outside the urban area, you must download MobiTime ? a program that provides timetables in your mobile phone and where you can also purchase text (SMS) tickets directly in the mobile service.
Period Summer
Period Summer is valid for all children and young people who are younger than 26 years at the start of the period. If the holder becomes 26 years old during the period of validity, they may continue to travel for the remainder of the period. Period Summer is valid for unlimited travel by bus and train in the whole of Jönköping County from 1 June to 28 August 2011. The Summer Card costs SEK 690 and is sold at our fixed sales outlets.
Period Leisure-Time
The Leisure-Time travel card is a Period card for all school children/youngsters not older than 19 years at the start of the period. Period Leisure-Time is divided into an autumn period and a spring period. The product is valid for unlimited travel Monday-Friday as of 4pm (16.00 hrs) until the end of the traffic-day and for the whole traffic-day on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays on all buses and trains in Jönköping County. The autumn card is also valid for the whole traffic-day during the autumn half-term and Christmas school holiday up to 31 December. The spring card is valid for the whole traffic-day during the remaining Christmas holiday, the winter-sports half-term in February, and the Easter school holiday.
